Newport News, VA – September 12, 2024 – Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula (BGCVP) is pleased to announce an incredible $25,000 donation from the BayPort Foundation in support of BGCVP’s Future Forward Summer Campaign. This campaign provided critical funding for summer programming that benefited more than 500 children and families across the Virginia Peninsula with enriching and educational opportunities during the summer months. The incredible gift was presented to BGCVP by BayPort Credit Union President/CEO, Jim Mears at Harbor Park before Club kids enjoyed a Norfolk Tides game thanks to BayPort Credit Union. In addition, the BayPort Foundation, in partnership with The Norfolk Tides, collected 150 pounds of school supplies from Tides fans to set Club youth up for success as they returned to school.
“We are incredibly grateful for BayPort Foundation’s continued support,” said Hal Smith, President & CEO at Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula. “This generous donation enabled us to continue providing high-quality summer programs that keep our kids engaged, learning, and safe. The programs we offered this summer, and the school supplies collected allow our kids to head back to school this fall confident and prepared.”
