The Newport News Police Foundation, in collaboration with Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula (BGCVP) Peninsula Unit, is thrilled to announce the grand opening of an innovative E-Sports Room, generously donated to support local youth in the Hampton Roads community.
The E-Sports Room, located within BGCVP Peninsula Unit at New Beech Grove Baptist Church, has been designed to foster positive interactions, skill development, and a sense of belonging among young gamers. This cutting-edge facility is equipped with top-of-the-line gaming hardware, including high-performance PCs, gaming consoles, and an array of games to cater to a wide range of interests. It provides a safe and inclusive space where young individuals can not only indulge in their passion for gaming but also cultivate essential teamwork and communication skills.
BGCVP President & CEO, Hal Smith states, “The Newport News Police Foundation recognizes the potential of e-sports to engage, inspire, and empower the youth on the Virginia Peninsula. By providing access to this exciting new facility, we aim to promote a positive atmosphere that encourages personal growth, discipline, and the development of valuable life skills. The E-Sports Room will be a catalyst for building lasting relationships between local law enforcement and the community they serve.”

The grand opening of the E-Sports Room will be celebrated on July 24th at 11:30 AM at BGCVP Peninsula Unit located at 361 Beechmont Drive, Newport News, Virginia 23608. Local officials, community leaders, and representatives from both the Newport News Police Foundation and BGCVP will be in attendance to mark this significant occasion.
