HAMPTON ROADS, VA – Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula (BGCVP) is delighted to announce the successful completion of a significant investment in the future of its members and facilities. On July 2, 2024, at 10:00 am, BGCVP hosted a check presentation ceremony at the Greater Hampton Roads Unit, where they received $850,000 in funding for capital improvement projects. This substantial support was awarded to BGCVP as Congressionally Directed Spending requested by Congressman Bobby Scott. The funds will be allocated towards essential upgrades and improvements at BGCVP Clubs. These enhancements will ensure that BGCVP can continue to provide a safe and nurturing environment where young people can learn, grow, and thrive.

Local dignitaries, community leaders, and BGCVP Board Members joined the event, which featured remarks from BGCVP President & CEO Hal Smith and Congressman Bobby Scott. This momentous occasion underscored the importance of community collaboration and investment in the next generation. “We are incredibly grateful for Congressman Bobby Scott’s support and advocacy,” said Hal Smith, President & CEO of BGCVP. “This funding will enable us to make critical improvements to our facilities, directly benefiting the youth we serve. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula has been serving the local community for over 75 years, offering programs and services designed to promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging, and influence.
