(Newport News, VA)   Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula’s Blue All-Stars AAU ages 6-14 Track Team will take on the Track & Field U.S. Junior Olympics the week of July 30 through August 8, 2022, at North Carolina A&T. Seventeen members of the team qualified for this year’s Junior Olympics. They are as follows:

  • Adonnis A.- Turbo Javelin, Shot Put
  • Davari W.- Turbo Javelin, Shot Put
  • Dahvione W.- Turbo Javelin, Shot Put
  • Kingston C.- 1500m Run
  • Kori L.- 80m Hurdles
  • Nyles P.- 4x100m Relay
  • Dante T.- 200m Hurdles
  • Joseph H.- 200m Hurdles
  • Nryan P.- 4×100 Relay

Last year being the first year that the team competed, only two members qualified in the 2021 Junior Olympics. Since March, the team has practiced three times a week and participated in eight meets in preparation. Head Coach, Donald Johnson, credits this hugely successful season to the dedication and determination of the kids and fellow coaches. Johnson was assisted by fellow coaches, Richard Ruffin, Carleah Johnson, Gary Davis, and Chris Bertrand.
