Workforce Development Programs
Junior Staff Development – Assists Club members ages 13 to 18 in exploring a career in youth or human services, particularly Boys & Girls Club work. Members prepare for these professional roles by participating in career development activities, discovering the importance of community service, building customer service skills and completing a Club apprenticeship. This program makes an investment in the development of Club members’ interpersonal skills, work ethic and sense of community responsibility.
The YES Academy is a 16-week program that provides the knowledge, skills, strategies, and attitudes necessary to have a positive foundation for success. Our youth will build social, emotional and cultural competencies so they can achieve academic success and prepare for the world of work. Our "success equation" is simple:
Building Character & + Promoting Academic + Providing Career Healthy Lifestyles Success & Graduation & Job-Ready Training
= Responsible Adults
Our greatest focus is to assist youth with realizing the importance of education, improving their academic performance and graduating from high school; secure scholarships for post high-school education and training; explore career possibilities; prepare for the world of work; build basic money management skills to become financially responsible. They also develop interpersonal skills, strong work ethic and a sense of community engagement by participating in service projects.
Career Launch – Encourages members 13 to 18 to explore careers, make sound educational decisions and prepare for them for the work force. This includes, learning how to create a resume, apply for a job, proper interview techniques, search for college and more!
Money Matters – Promotes financial responsibility and independence among Club members ages 13 to 18. Participants learn how to manage a checking account, create a budget, save and invest, start small businesses and pay for college.
