Last summer Busch Gardens and Water Country USA partnered up with The Boys & Girls Club of the Virginia Peninsula to ensure a fun-filled summer for all of our members! This summer, the duo has kindly donated 6,000 tickets, allowing us the opportunity to continue to bring our members on field trips all summer long!
Many of our members had never experienced an amusement park before, and now they get to enjoy that classic childhood experience. From taking the children on their first roller coaster, to watching their faces glow with excitement at the numerous of the rides, Busch Gardens has given the children so many memories already, and more memories to come!
The best part of this friendship with Busch Gardens and Water Country USA is the impact it has on the kids and staff at the Clubs. The Clubs have the opportunity to dive into Busch Gardens and Water Country USA multiple times a month, for free.
As the weather starts getting warmer, we plan to begin our trips to Williamsburg to this amazing park! Busch Gardens has just opened a new ride, that we are sure our kids are going to love! The "Battle for Eire" ride is a virtual reality ride, that will open with the park in 2018. We cannot wait to try it out, and explore around the Busch Gardens grounds! When the weather is too hot to bear, we look forward to jumping into the cool pools, and trying out the different water slides that Water Country USA has to offer!
We have been lucky in the sense that we have been able to not only bring our Club members to Busch Gardens, but have also given them the chance bond over new experiences with their loved ones. Last summer, we were able to provide tickets and transportation for entire families, allowing members to attend the theme park alongside their parents and siblings.
We currently have a garden planted at Busch Gardens, as a token of "planting it forward." In March of 2017, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia (BGCSEVA) and BGCVP members planted the flowers in-front of the Boys & Girls Club Blue Door at the theme park and will harvest and donate the flowers to nursing homes and children's hospitals in the area. We look forward to continuing the garden this year, and sharing this experience with the community.
We would like to give one more HUGE thank you to Busch Gardens and Water Country USA! We are so thankful for your generosity!
